An information visualization designed to reduce time spent queueing at the bar, and restore activity on the dance floor.
  1. The bar keeps track of each customer's arrival and place in the queue (via tokens placed on the bar's surface).
  2. Each customer's face appears along with a filled circle and current number position in the queue.
  3. The longer a customer has been waiting, the larger the circle becomes.
  4. The color of each circle also has meaning: it changes from yellow (at arrival) to red over time.
This reduces the cognitive load of the bartender; when serving large crowds, she merely needs to attend to the customer with the largest red circle.

Further details about this project can be found here and here.

An early prototype.

A visualization to be projected upon the bar's surface, from below.
